TETTNANG TETTNANGER
Noble hops, a classic cultivated near the Bodensee. Planted in 1844 by seven inhabitants of the village of Tettnang with the approval of King Wilhelm the First. This approval came as a reaction to the misery caused by the Napoleon War and cattle disease. Cattle farmers became hop farmers. Importing hops was difficult and now no longer necessary. Hop production later came to a booming point with the construction of railways. Tettnanger hops are the foundation of many traditional German beers. Part of the Bierverbond City Trip.
